BMW has stated that the autonomy of the iX reaches 600 kilometers. This new suv works with two electric engines of over 370 kW in total and a battery that exceeds 100 kWh.
The iX is built using a bespoke aluminum frame with lightweight, stiff carbon-reinforced plastic used on the body and roof frame and rear window frame. It’s as long and wide as the midsize X5 SUV, practically the same height as the X6. The standard wheels are 20-inch alloys optimized for aerodynamic efficiency, with the possibility of upgrading to the larger 21 and 22-inch as an option.
Engine: Two electric engines for the new BMW iX SUV
If for most people the problem with electric vehicles is not speed but range, the powerful electric engines of the BMW iX, which have been developed in-house, draw from a 100 kWh high voltage battery with a range of 600. kilometres. The electronics allow fast DC charging up to 200 kW, which means that the battery can be recharged from 10% to 80% in less than 40 minutes.
An 11 kW wallbox charger is capable of returning energy to the battery from 0 to 100% in less than 11 hours. There are many innovations that this BMW flagship brings with it. Starting with the two electric motors, one mounted on the rear axle and one on the front that develop a total of over 500 hp. To push it there is a fifth generation eDrive system which only takes 5 seconds for 0-100 kilometers per hour. In summary, its powers are:
- More than 600 kilometers of autonomy
- Two-axle electric all-wheel drive. Over 500 HP (370 KW)
- From 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in less than 5 seconds
- Recharges over 120 kilometers in ten minutes
- Public fast charging up to 80% in less than 40 minutes
The new BMW iX SUV is the group’s new technological flagship. The dashboard and infotainment screens are combined into a single panel that curves over two-thirds of the fabric or leather-covered dashboard and sits behind the hexagonal shaped steering wheel. The start & stop button, shift selector lever and electronic brake are located in an armrest extension between the front seats, alongside a wood-clad panel that includes capacitor switches for various infotainment functions and a glass rotary controller.
Other stylish details in terms of design include subtle HVAC vents, minimalist switches for seat adjustment and power windows and speakers hidden behind the door trims.
The iX has a starting price of $84,195
