Overview

The first 100% electric from BMW arrives. The battery-powered version of the German manufacturer is based on the X3 to create an SUV that remains faithful to the style of the house: refinement, cutting-edge image and ample space for technology.

The BMW eDrive philosophy has reached its fifth generation and places an emphasis on energy efficiency, increasing the ranges of autonomy and load capacity that will serve as the basis for the futuristic BMW iNEXT and BMW i4 developed in the coming months. Thus, the new BMW iX3 homologates a range of 460 kilometers under the WLTP cycle thanks to an 80 kWh gross accumulator.

Engine Specs and Road Test

BMW iX3 does not compromise on performance and has been equipped with a 286 hp electric drive with a maximum torque of 400 Nm. It can thus reach 100 kilometers per hour from standstill in 6.8 seconds with top speed electronically limited to 180 kilometers per hour. It must be said that the power of the engine goes to the rear wheels.

While driving, you can choose different energy regeneration modes with position B in gear with which it is possible to recover enough energy. Or the adaptive regeneration which includes the inertial advance function, with the selector in position D. The feedback can be adjusted on three levels.

Powers and Energy Consumption

Instead, it can be recharged up to a power of 150 kW at the direct current points, with which 80% of the total capacity is obtained empty in 34 minutes. IX3 customers can take advantage of reduced prices at the fast charging stations of the Ionity consortium. Through the BMW Connected Charging application it is possible to plan this operation, collaborating with the navigation system to know the places and estimate an arrival time.

In terms of consumption and range, the iX3 is sensitive to both conditions and driving mode. With a more “sporty” attitude, the battery is destined to drain rather quickly and will not reach 300 kilometers. However, if we drive with some caution we can easily exceed 400 kilometers.

Pricing

At launch, the iX3 had two variants: a Premier Edition priced at £61,900 and a Premier Pro Edition priced at £64,900.
