With 70 years of history behind it, the Land Cruiser has earned its place in the market. It is a car that does not hide its off-road vocation, but at the same time has evolved into a comfortable 4 × 4 on the road with a new engine that exceeds 200 hp.

Toyota Land Cruiser is 4,840mm long, 1,885mm wide, without mirrors, and 1,845mm high. It is a large, imposing car with considerable dimensions and which is also accompanied by shapes that make it appear larger. A morphology determined directly by its 4 × 4 nature with a high nose and rear stay to improve off-road angles.
To access the driver’s seat, you have to get up on the side step and sit in a very high driving position, more than what we are used to in any SUV. Inside, the materials are well positioned with the right balance between rigid or not too padded elements and softer parts. The result is 100% Japanese with a beautifully finished set, with good adjustments, no creaking or gaps, and exuding solidity without the slightest hint of gimmick.
The front seats are comfortable and electrically adjustable, as is the steering column. The steering wheel has two wooden inserts that give it a premium air. The space for the front occupants is correct as it could not be otherwise in a car like this, there are also more spaces to leave objects with or without a lid, and in between a refrigerated glove box with an excellent capacity to keep the drink fresh during excursions.
The dashboard follows the same simple and effective line with two analog dials and a small digital color screen in between. At the center of the dashboard is the infotainment system which in this version mounts the Toyota Touch 2 & GO with an 8-inch screen. With the seats open, the trunk is just 20 cm deep, going from a capacity of 553 liters to just 104 liters.
On the road, the Toyota Land Cruiser is a more surprising car than it might seem. It is still a mass focused on effectiveness on dirt roads, but the Japanese have managed to create a comfortable vehicle in all conditions. The six-speed automatic transmission works well, keeping the engine at low revs whenever possible and taking advantage of the enormous amounts of torque generated by the diesel engine.
The automatic transmission with six-speed torque converter is clearly comfortable and well suited to the use of Land Cruisers. The Japanese engineers have created a comfortable 4 × 4 in everyday use, with high comfort on the asphalt and that does not look like a clumsy car despite its size.
